5-0 out of 5 stars no problems
i know other reviewers seemed to have a lot of issues, but this phone has worked very well for me.it is easy to use, comfortably fits in your pocket, and has been reliable.it's nothing fancy, and i haven't tried downloading ringtones, but if you just want a simple, easy to carry phone, this one is great.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad recieve audio
We got two of these with our service upgrade from Verizon. They have terrible audio. It chopps off the leading edge of words and sometime drops out to the point that a conversation is nearly impossible. Verizon reloaded the software, no improvement. I talked to Samsung and got, send it back for a minimum 15 day turn around and we'll see what we can do about it. This phone has a serious bug in the software. Do not buy a Samsung SCH-A630, it's a piece of junk. By the way, one phone in our upgrade was a Motorola, it works fine.

This big upgrade to the popular X475 adds great features like a speakerphone and a brighter, clearer main display. Plus, it looks a heck of a lot sexier. The X495 also supports MP3 ringtones, so you can really make some noise when the phone rings. This model retains all the great features of its predecessor, including support for MMS messaging, instant messaging, and wireless Web capabilities.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone is a POS
I got this phone because I lost my old Nokia phone and was told that is is very durable. Anyway, my first one died within the 30 days period and I was able to trade it in the store. The next one lasted about 5 months and now I am using the one my father-in -law refused to use. It loses the network, I don't get my voicemails, can't IM anymore, and to top it of it only works when plugged in. Three of these POS later I am not even going to send it in for a free replacement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very durable
I didn't have much to add to the other reviews but I did want to say that my wife accidently ran the X495 through a complete cycle in a washing machine. After drying it out with a hair dryer and letting it sit for a couple of hours we recharged it and it worked like new.
2-0 out of 5 stars Decent call sound quality, other stuff is lacking
If you just want a phone to make calls, this one is acceptable. The speaker lacks low frequency sound, but it's pretty clear overall. But Samsung added a bunch of other features, none of which work very well. Don't buy this phone if you are counting on those extra features.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just looks fancy, other than that...
I got this phone basically for free, but even taking that into account, I'm pretty disappointed with the phone. This is my first Samsung and, I'm pretty sure, my last one! I owned a Nokia before and I regret that I "betrayed" it. From now I wouldn't get anything besides Nokia and in the worst case maybe Sony-Ericsson.
1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy Lousy Lousy
I can't believe that with technology as advanced as it is, Samsung could produce this giant POS. It's flashy, yes. But does it deliver?? No. I actually refused to pay the bill and let them shut my service off. I loved the clarity of the pictures, even though the 1 megapixel camera was pretty lousy, and I even liked the video feature. But the phone is only good IF YOU CAN USE IT!!! It's been years since I've had such lousy reception from a phone. I'm considering taking the dealer to court over this, since they pushed it on me and told me what a great phone it was. I want my money back!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Time
Has to be the worst phone I have ever had to pay for.Between the missing features (no voice dial on a $200 phone?!) crippled features (I have to buy ringtones, use their t-zone for the WAP when I have the unlimited internet service already?) and poor reception and terrible battery life it has almost made me want to pay the early cancellation fee and find another carrier.Anyone who would charge some much for this POS really doesn't deserve my business. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars increadible device
I'll make this real quick.I travel a ton with my laptop glued to me, and this phone (thanks to EVO) is my modem.I'll use it all day as a modem and never get disconnected. The speed is almost as good as DSL, and I'll frequently download 100MB+ files from the internet using the PHONE!It's just increabile as bascially a constant broadband connection to the web. Also great for reading/replying to mail on the fly.Synch is super fast. Not a bad phone either.Sound is excellent and rarely get dropped calls. In fact I did a 4 hour conference call from Oxford Wisconsin (middle of nowhere) recently.Couldn't believe it actually worked there, let alone stayed connected for 4 hours.Speaker phone is great. Downsides are the keys are a little small, speed dial could be a little easier, and the bluetooth has given me some problems (but I never looked into it).Regardless, this is the best device/gadget/whatever I've ever bought -- hands down!My wife absolutely hates it because its now glued to my hand.

3-0 out of 5 stars Has Bluetooth Issues out of the box that can be solved
I am a big fan of the voice dialing software that's on the higher-end Samsungs. I was eligible for an upgrade from my A610 and was looking to get a PDA phone to kill two birds with one stone (my Palm died a few months ago). Because of my work it's inconvenient to have a phone with a camera so the i730 seemed a logical combination of PDA and phone features. It is a Windows machine so I did expect some difficulties (Mac person's perspective). However, my most precious feature, the voice dial, had problems. VoiceSignal software that is used on the i730 was supposed to work like the one on my old A610 by allowing voice dial to be initiated when pushing the button on the headset. With the A610, it was a corded headset, but the i730 with a Bluetooth headset didn't function right (Jabra BT500). Couldn't initiate voice dial with the headset button or do any other functions with it. Couldn't even get sound through the headset! Verizon folks just don't sell enough of these things to have 'experts', even on the phone. Samsung wasn't much better, saying that I should try another bluetooth headset (already tried that). Jabra said it was a problem with the phone and to ignore their own website that said none of the Jabras were compatible with the i730. AARRRGGHHH!!!
2-0 out of 5 stars Great PDA, but a bad phone!!!
I couldn't wait for this phone to come out and then to actually get it after seeing it reviewed at CES last year.I was hoping that it was the answer to the ultimate coverged device.Well it only lives up to it half way.As a PDA, it's hard to beat.It does everything you'd expect of a PDA and the interface is great. Also, you can install lots of helpful software on it to make you more productive. Now the bad part, the phone flat out stinks.I had a Samsung all digital phone on the Verizon service before this one and it was much better. The i730 phone cannot hold a signal for very long.On my hour commute I drop the call on average about 10 times, when before I knew there were one or two spots that I might drop the call due to a weak area. It's not just this physical phone because I had it replaced with a brand new one from Verizon.Same thing, crappy reception and constantly drops calls. To make it worse the phone (or software) turns itself off periodically. You think the phone is on, but when you go to use it you find out it's not working and requires a soft reset. Also, when in this state people are calling and it's going right to v-mail.I asked Verizon about this and no good answers. Finally, after 8 months of frustration I switched to the new Blackberry 8700 on Cingular.WOW!!!The phone is so much better - crystal clear, hardly ever drops a call and I haven't had to reset it once in about 2 months. The interface takes some getting used to but I will never go back to the Samsung i730. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I've never had any problems...
This is the first cell phone I've ever owned but as far as I can tell it is perfect!I have never had a problem myself even after a year and a half of use.My brother has even washed his a few times and it still works...Overall though, good phone.Wouldn't say it's worth it to get internet on it, very limited.Camera/camcorder are pretty good, but videos can only be 30 seconds long.As far as call quality goes though, it's perfect.I love my phone!

1-0 out of 5 stars crap phone
im getting a way better phone the sanyo 7400 thats a realy good
1-0 out of 5 stars Total Waste!
This is the worst phone I have ever come across. I love Samsung phones but this phone is is awful. Softare keeps crashing and screen gets fuzzy/overlaps. I took this phone back to Sprint and the new phone is acting the same way. I thought maybe first phone was bad but once again second phone is falling apart. On top of that: My father has similar phone and it is doing the same thing. I wasted 250 dollars on this piece of crap.

3-0 out of 5 stars Problem Phone
I am currently on my third unit. The first two phones were defective and replaced under warranty. First unit the top center screen pivot let loose upon answering a call and the entire top flew off the phone. The second unit kept turning the camera on anytime it wanted to. I agree 100% with the camera problem. Pictures are fuzzy and colors are washed out. Other than the camera problem, this phone is fun to use. The MP3 player sounds great/bluetooth easy to use as well as the rest of the phone functions. Its a shame the camera was not designed properly.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Great Phone
I haven't had this phone for a very long time but I can say for sure that this is a great phone.I didn't find this phone bulky at all.I just started a new two year contract with Verizon. My previous phone was bulky and didn't do nearly what this new phone does.I'm actually upset at the people who are complaining about the size of this phone.Think about what this phone does. Its a great phone with many features that you can't find anywhere else.People are amazed when they see it and are even more surprised when they see what it can do.It takes great pics. The internet service...web 2.0 is fast and I love the MP3 player.I picked up a memory card for $30.00 and a headset for $13.00 which was a lot cheaper than what I expected to pay.Just today I was able to figure out how to hook up my phone to my car stereo system. The sound quality was amazing and to think I was doing this all with a cell phone blows my mind. This phone is a must have.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE
The only reason I bought this phone was because it had the best camera available (2.0 Mega-pixel).The camera is horrible. It takes a blurry, off-colored picture EVERY time.I have tried all possible settings.Nothing helps.I am so mad I bought this.I know someone who owns the a950 and those pictures are phenomenal compared to the picture this camera takes!

4-0 out of 5 stars Samsung E105
This is the phone I was using until the screen broke. Im giving it 4 stars because of how it is while its working lol. Really really easy to use. Easy on the text, I can text really fast with this phone. Its a small phone, good buttons. Good features on it. Easy to get to things quickly. One downfall is the service. I couldnt get very good service with this phone. While in buildings etc. Once outside it isnt no big deal, but in certain buildings ehh... got some trouble. But this is a good little phone!!! But it doesnt work anymore, the screen is black now, and I cant see anything. It happened out of no where to. Even though it has been dropped in water twice, and dropped on the floor quite a few times lol. But nothing serious. Its a good phone. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars demon phone
I got stuck with this clunky thing when my other phone was destroyed and this model was provided via the insurance company. Ugh. I always had great reception from Verizon until this phone. I never had dropped calls before with Verizon, and then I started getting dropped calls once a day--and I remained within the same service area. It seems that no one can hear me properly even in a quiet room, a problem which has resulted in lots of screaming and misunderstandings, not to mention accusations that I'm "not a good listener" or "not paying attention." This phone will hurt.
1-0 out of 5 stars It is just not good. You can find a better one
For several years I had Samsung and LG phones with Verizon. I never even once had a dropped call, disconnection...etc. My last phone was damaged and I was given this as a replacement (cost me $60). Since I got this, I hear the expression "please speak louder I cannot hear you" a lot. A lot of places the signal reception is not good while the previous phones I had were working just fine. The menus are all buried inside and....so many problems. I do not like it at all. Do not buy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for those who need a solid, reliable phone.
I recently acquired 2 of these phones for my wife and I as an upgrade from our 2 year old Samsung A650's. I was happy to continue using Samsung Verizon phones becuase the a650 had been an excellent phone with no problems or battery issues throughout it's rough 2 year life with us. After getting the phones home, I was reading some reviews here and was concerned about the performance of these phones. Some folks had not rated them highly and stated some serious problems with sound quality and call dropping. Let me address these complaints in my personal experience with this phone:

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst Phone I Ever Had
I've been through quite a few phones in the past couple years (Nokia, LG, Motorola, and now this Samsung) and I have got to say that this is by far the worst of the bunch. This phone fails at almost everything that makes a cellphone good. The reception is terrible (A two minute conversation takes 10 minutes because you and the person on the other end always need to repeat yourselves), It does not keep your contacts organized very well (multiple entries for the same person if they have more than one number...), a ludicrous "Push to talk" feature that is entirely worthless...even the alarm clock is needlessly complicated.
1-0 out of 5 stars I hate this phone!!
I bought 2 of these phones in April because of the Push to Talk feature.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Style and Quality
I have had this phone for about a month now and am very familiar with its operation and features. When I first took it out of the box, I was extremely impressed by its looks. The black and silver contrast against one another very well for a beautiful finish. The screen is extremely large and very shiny when the LCD is not lit. It does collect fingerprints easily, but simply wiping the screen on a shirt or something for a few seconds cleans it right up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Affordability Plus!$3/month
If you don't use this phone, it costs $3/month.Normal hours til 9 p.m. it's 12 cents per minute, which is a bit less than half of what most prepaid phones cost.Perfect for my occasional use and for locating family members when I'm in transit and feel that I simply must know where they are and what they are doing.I don't use cell phones much, but if I must have one, I might as well have one that doesn't make me worry about another huge bill. For kids who think they can mangle the budget, forget it cuz when the card is used up -- that's it kiddo.Once they use up the card, the only number they can dial is 911, but that's it.Bonus features: clock is always accurate and it has a great alarm which tells me when to get up to go to work and another to tell me when to go home at the end of the day.At some point, I might not be able to live without this. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Who dropped the ball at samsung?!?
This phone is quite possibly the worst item to ever hit the hot little hands of consumers in the history of the entire universe. It might as well have a button that retracts razor blades to cut the users hands off.... that would even be a welcomed feature IF IT WORKED! This phone can't hold a call for longer than 1 minute on a good day in ideal conditions. If its raining or a small insect flies within the path of the antenna and the receiving tower, you better have that person's number on speed dial because you will be calling them back!I have never had a phone, correction, i have never had ANYTHING i have hated more than this piece!I had a samsung a400 before this one and it worked great! In fact i dropped it in my pool TWICE and it still recovered!I thought another samsung phone would be equally great but it seems that someone overlooked the whole phone part of the design and focused more attention on making it roughly the size of Zack Morris' phone on Saved By The Bell! The battery should have been equipped with a hand crank in order to "Charge On The Go" and maybe even an optional foam outer casing because of the thousands of times you will want to throw the SOB against a wall!Do yourself a favor and destroy any Samsung N400 phone you ever see. With your help, we could rid the world of this horrible device.... it hasnt been proven, but i would not be suprised if the ozone layer corrected itself after these phones are all destroyed!Israel would become a peaceful nation and Pennsylvania would probably fix their roads!Peace Out!

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone is crap
Everything that the reviewer below (Sarahnoid) said is accurate.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish it were possible to give 0 stars.
This phone was sent to me as a replacement when my fabulous Sanyo lost an argument with gravity. It is, quite possibly, the most worthless piece of crap I've ever owned. It's so horrible that I've called Sprint on several occasions trying to get a replacement for this phone, as it doesn't work very well, if at all.I'm always told that since it was issued to me through the insurance policy I took out on my plan, I have to go through the insurance company. The insurance company then tells me that if I get another phone via the insurance, they will cancel my insurance, as two phones in a year is some sort of red flag--nevermind that the one they sent me is worthless.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great For a While, And Then . . .
I've had my E715 for over two years now, and my screen fried at the 1 1/2 year mark. It can still see things on the screen, but it's as if someone turned up the brightness feature so high that everything is washed out. I can barely read menus, and forget about having any wallpapers or seeing any photos. I wish the screen had lasted longer. I am currently searching for a different phone.

3-0 out of 5 stars My Experiences...
I've had this phone for about a year now, but after about 6 months the screen showed signs of damage. The screen is so bright that you can hardly read the menu prompts and there are lines going through the screen. I had never dropped the phone before the screen exhibited these problems. A friend with the same phone told me that he had dealt with the same problems, fortunately for him he had insurance (I do not [long story]).
4-0 out of 5 stars e715
I have used this model for two years now.I find that I really like this phone, but I notice the horizontal white lines across the screen also.

5-0 out of 5 stars I MISS THIS PHONE!!!
I had this phone from July '04 to March '06.About a year ago, I had some problems with the software freezing, but after a couple replacements, they weren't an issue. This phone was extremely easy to use, it was comfortable to hold, and it was just the right size.Mine was stolen last month, or I would still have it.It makes me sad that they've discontinued it without offering anything comparable.

Samsung's SGH-D415 rides a wave of high style and broad functionality. As you take the ringing phone from your pocket and lift it to your face in answer, its silver cover slides up all of its own accord, converting to a full-size phone. Just these few seconds are enough to catch the eyes of people around you, and you'll save valuable time in not having to stop to open the phone before talking.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Deserves a 0
It is a nice phone.. while it works. Clear reception, good battery life, good display, smooth slider. Looks good too, though large in size. Now it doesnt work anymore.. screen is white and 'call' button is dead. The end of phone. T-mobile refused to replace it and I'm left to the mercy of Samsung who said they would repair it in 21 days and add shipping to that. It has done a lot of damage to my accesibility already.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok but not great
The D415 is not a speakerphone, which surprised me. I thought all phones came with speaker. I use this phone with T-Mobile. But they aren't too security-conscious. For example, when you type in your password for voicemail, the password is displayed in a large font right on the screen. I told T-Mobile about this major flaw several months ago, but they haven't bothered to correct it yet. It's just security. (Sheesh!) Also, if you want to delete someone from your phonebook, you have to go into each and every number you have for them and navigate a menu to delete them one by one. Text-messaging is cumbersome because the default character selection is T9 - which is virtually unusable because it tries to guess what you are writing, prints out three characters of its guess, and is inevitably wrong. So you have to change the character selection (also cumbersome). But if you switch to inserting symbols, it automatically reverts back to T9 when you return to straight ASCII text. Errrgh! There are just too many stupid things like this that could have been developed with common sense instead of idiocy. It's as if the programmers for this phone were in a huge hurry and didn't put any thought into the OS development. I am only keeping this phone because of the 1-year contract I'm stuck in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Phone
I don't know about the rest of these reviews, but I've had my phone for over seven months and have taken pretty good care of it. It's been through a few drops and whatnot, but the screen works flawlessly and the buttons, battery, and connectivity are just the way I bought them. Overall, this phone is a great buy for the price! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Impressive in terms of sheer design, this little flip phone approaches perfection. A combination of equal parts efficiency and flash, the Samsung S105offers a comprehensive package of standard features and fun, useful extras. When closed, the phone appears alluringly hi-tech with its silver finish, rectangular body, and external LCD display, which shows date, time, battery level, service icon, and caller ID. And, even though the phone only weighs four ounces, it still feels substantial. When flipped open, the S105 doesn't disappoint. Its brilliant full-color LCD with its animated menus, uniquely shaped buttons, and blue backlit keypad numerals dazzles the eye. The folks at Samsung certainly know the power of symmetry, form, and color.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 3 stars for 12 months of performance
************Samsung in general: the speaker quit working on the first Samsung I owned (with Sprint)after about 1.5 yrs.(Sprint refused to sell me another phone at a good price without resigning a contract, so I switched to T-Mobile.)The LCD quit working on the second Samsung (my S105 through t-mobile). I dropped the 3rd one into my swimming pool on accident (e315), so it was too soon to know if it was going to be a good phone!**************The Samsung S105 was a pretty good phone overall.I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile when I purchased this phone, and the call quality was much improved - so I don't know if it was the phone or the service provider. The battery was great, the interface was easy to use.The phone felt solid, but was still dainty.Sometimes when I would try to access the phonebook it would stall out, but not very often. After about a year of solid performance, the LCD displays on both the inside and outside went blank. (To be fair, I should add that I live in FL and often had the phone clipped to my waist when working outside - so it could have been the heat.) If this phone has lasted 2 yrs I would have given it a 4 star rating.Maybe a year is more realistic?(Astonishingly enough, the LCD on the e315 phone still works after a dip in the pool, but it won't stop vibrating when I put the battery in and the keys won't work.)My advice - think about buying the insurance or paying less for a phone! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone But Being Phased Out
I've had an I330 since 2003.It was an excellent phone and PDA, but I wouldn't recommend buying one, even a used one because:
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent palm phone - too bad it's only for Sprint!
This phone rocks - I am really disappointed that it is not available to be used on any other provider. The phone itself has been the only reason I stayed with Sprint - even here, in Kansas City, the WORLD HEADQUARTERS of Sprint the service areas are always dropping calls and it is expensive!
2-0 out of 5 stars Equal parts pleasure and pain
Others have touted all that the I-330 is capable of when it works. Those reviewers who have praised the I-330 haven't owned one long enough. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Ehhhh it's OK
The phone is a basic stripped cell. Great screen color and easy usability. The coverage was not as good as my husband's nokia (cingular) or his nextel. I felt like I was deaf. since i couldn't hear unless I was in complete silence. A fine generic phone withh average features.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay phone really bad service
This is an okay phone if you don't want a fancy flip phone or you have never had a cell phone. It is easy to use, compact and light. There is a dark side to all this. The phone is fragile. It doesn't take to being dropped very well. The ringtones are stupid and not very loud. If you would like to download ringtones that can run you from $2.49 to $2.99. At T-Mobile I can get them for a dollar less. The reception for Cingular is truly pathetic. I couldn't get reception anywhere and that bothered me. I was dropping calls all the time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works for me!
Honestly I don't know what everyone is complaing about, the phone works great for me! Maybe I got lucky, not sure, but I have no complaints. The reception isnt the best, but again I live in the mountains and thats normal for us with any phone or carrier. I havent had any dropped calls, ever, the battery is strong, it surfs the web fine, stores my numbers. This phone is excellent for me because all I need is a phone and text messaging. ... Read more
