Editorial Review

Impressive in terms of sheer design, this little flip phone approaches perfection. A combination of equal parts efficiency and flash, the Samsung S105offers a comprehensive package of standard features and fun, useful extras. When closed, the phone appears alluringly hi-tech with its silver finish, rectangular body, and external LCD display, which shows date, time, battery level, service icon, and caller ID. And, even though the phone only weighs four ounces, it still feels substantial. When flipped open, the S105 doesn't disappoint. Its brilliant full-color LCD with its animated menus, uniquely shaped buttons, and blue backlit keypad numerals dazzles the eye. The folks at Samsung certainly know the power of symmetry, form, and color.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 3 stars for 12 months of performance
************Samsung in general: the speaker quit working on the first Samsung I owned (with Sprint)after about 1.5 yrs.(Sprint refused to sell me another phone at a good price without resigning a contract, so I switched to T-Mobile.)The LCD quit working on the second Samsung (my S105 through t-mobile). I dropped the 3rd one into my swimming pool on accident (e315), so it was too soon to know if it was going to be a good phone!**************The Samsung S105 was a pretty good phone overall.I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile when I purchased this phone, and the call quality was much improved - so I don't know if it was the phone or the service provider. The battery was great, the interface was easy to use.The phone felt solid, but was still dainty.Sometimes when I would try to access the phonebook it would stall out, but not very often. After about a year of solid performance, the LCD displays on both the inside and outside went blank. (To be fair, I should add that I live in FL and often had the phone clipped to my waist when working outside - so it could have been the heat.) If this phone has lasted 2 yrs I would have given it a 4 star rating.Maybe a year is more realistic?(Astonishingly enough, the LCD on the e315 phone still works after a dip in the pool, but it won't stop vibrating when I put the battery in and the keys won't work.)My advice - think about buying the insurance or paying less for a phone! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars small and cute
this phone is a very good phone and easy to use. takes very cool pictures with its 33mm camera

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great but not bad either
Apart from functioning as the normal cellphone. I liked the software User Interface in this phone. I dont want to compare with any other models, since this is the only phone I have used from Sony. The other phone I had before was Nokia, which has the best user interface (both software and the keypad).
2-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst phones I've ever had
I bought this phone after using it predecessor the Sony Ericsson T610, and it was a complete let down.Among its problems the phone I had suffered from a circuit chip issue and had to be replaced. The next phone I received suffered from the same issue. Finally the third phone functioned correctly, but still not as well as my original T610.It has a cheap feel to it and the software lags behind user interaction. While providing more memory than the T610, it gets worse battery life and sound quality. The camera on either phone was not very good, but quite frankly you can not expect much from a camera phone. These are my thoughts, only looking to help out. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Bad battery life
My wife has had this phone for about two years. Loved it at first but soon after she began charging it more and more frequently. Right now she is charging it 2-3 times per day and she doesn't use it often. Her favorite aspect of the phone is its size.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's Not the Service, It's the Phone
I owned this phone for a whopping 10 days before I got fed up and traded it in for the i860. It's a cute phone -- I loved the bronze color and the lightweight feel -- but for God's sake, if I wanted to take a week to get a text message through, I'd write a letter.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't go buy it!
I paid $150 extra plus tax to get a cool looking phone and it was not worth it.I went to the Nextel Support Center near my work to check if there was anything they could do -- nope -- the guy showed me a wall with the discontinued phones and this was the first one displayed. He said that was probably the worst cell phone ever released and everyone is having problems. I bought the service plan and he advised me to call and explain the problems I am having in an attempt to get a new cell phone. Common problems include: call gets dropped, from full bar to no service, and no service in key locations such as my work, my drive to work, and home. BTW, I have other people at work that have nextel service and it works fine so it is definetely my cell phone and not the nextel service.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING
My problems with nextel did not stop when I canceled my service. I will get to the problems with the service. When I went to get a new phone a day before my contract expired, I of course wanted to keep my number. So as I went to get my Cingular phone (highly recommended), I had the old number switched to my new number. Today, I get in the mail my nextel statement for the month with a $200 early termination even though I had not canceled my service, but had simply got a new phone and switched my number over. This was on icing on the cake after 2 years of absolutely amazingy bad service from nextel. In my town, not a small town by any means, there are very few places that have any service. In the largest subdivision, you cannot get service anywhere. I constantly get comments from people trying to reach me that get the classic nextel line...Please hold while the nextel subscriber you are trying to reach is located. Most of the time I would not even recieve incoming calls, calls would go straight to my voice mail. Not only would I not get the calls, but often I would not even get the voice mails until days or even weeks later. When I did actually take calls (and call out), I cannot count the number of times I've had my call dropped. I recieved so many different error messages sometimes I wonder if they just spend all their time at nextel thinking of different error messages to program into their phones. That brings me to the selling point of nextel, the famed and well-loved direct connect feature. This is an absolute joke. Direct connect only works MAYBE half the time I tried to use it. Even then, in the middle of the conversation I would be greeted by the loud beep of my phone telling me I wont be talking to that person anymore. Of course, I would expect nothing less from the nextel network. Text messaging with nextel is next to impossible. If it did not take hours to send or recieve a message, it took days, or maybe didn't even come at all. The internet access was fine, it the rare instance that it worked. Of course, when you don't have service, you don't get the internet access either. I was constantly getting the message "network not available". Calling and trying to complain to nextel is futile. Trying to get through to customer service takes forever and once you get through they do nothing. My experience with nextel has been nothing short of a disaster and I write this trying to warn anyone considering nextel. Stick with Verizon or Cingular and you will be much happier in the end. Don't make the same mistake I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars i loved this phone
i had this phone for over a year, i loved it best phone i ever had, the only negative thing i can say is that the case is kinda weak and the holster holds the phone backwards so it doesnt break the external caller id if dropped, this means you have to take the phone out of the clip to answer the phone, unless you use speaker phone, id recommend this to anyone that wants nextel, best phone they had

5-0 out of 5 stars Great color phone for Nextel users
I've been a Nextel customer for years for both business and personal use. I've used almost all lines of phones. The i95cl was my favorite until i830 came along. The i95 is good for casual and especially heavy business users. The color LCD screen is huge compared to i730 and i830. Apparently Nextel had to reduce screen size in order to reduce phone size. That is one thing I miss in i830. I never had a problem with i95 size since it weighs about 5 oz. Great phone and I could not believe Nextel would discontinue it. *Note: I have an extra i95 for sale. It was my personal phone and in very good condition with some scratches. It is fully operational, travel charger and holster, shipping in USA included for flat $120.00. I will accept paypal only. 5-0 out of 5 stars If you care about reception more than style.
I've tried many phones for this service (including the awful Sony Ericson phones), but this one takes the cake as the one with the best reception. Yes, I'll admit that it's not the most attractive phone on the market (in fact, it's probably the biggest phone T-Mobile has besides the Sidekick), but it definately has the best reception of the bunch. I'll also admit that I only buy phones based on its reception quality. I don't care about its looks or what it does; as long as it keeps me in contact with my friends and family, I'm hooked. Nope, it doesn't have a camera, nor does it play those ring tones that sound just like the song it's playing; it's just a standard cell phone that you'd be thankful you had when an emergency arises. It does connect to T-Zones so you can read your email and download the latest wallpaper, so don't feel that this phone only caters to people want a phone with the latest features. I'll admit... I was jealous with my friends getting the latest cell phone technology, but I just laugh at them when my cell phone actually works at a time when I need it the most. I definately recommend this phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars I accepted a downgrade in style for an upgrade in reception
I had a Nokia 3595 when I first signed up with T-Mobile and almost never had reception issues. Then when it was time to renew the contract a year later I went with the sexier Samsung E195 flip phone. I liked that it had a bigger screen with larger text (I'm 50). The rings were nicer to listen to and it was smaller if I ever put it in a pocket.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Phone with Excellent Reception and Battery Life
The Nokia 6010 has always given me good signal strength, and the battery life is amazing (especially the standby time). The interface is very intuitive, and all the basic necessary features are there.

4-0 out of 5 stars unbreakable...but
I agree with all, I have had this phone for over 4 years because I like candy bar style phones and it looks kinda cute. I have dropped ita thousand times and yet...it keeps on working. Lately though I discovered that it does not connect calls, so I have to shut it off and back on to make it work again. Unfortunately its not the fastest rebooter. I find the reception is impeccable and the quality of hearing the other person is very good. So I guess I will keep it for another while, since nowadays only flip phones seem to be sold :(

4-0 out of 5 stars Had for years
I have had this terminator of a phone for a few years now.The software for it is wonderful.I can store multiple numbers for everyone, and have a little icon indicating if its a mobile number or a home number.Pictures and ringtones are customized for each person, and I can send out mass text messages to my buddies when I'm having a get together.
5-0 out of 5 stars agree with the indestructible part
I've had the phone for a couple of years. I've lost it in the car, dropped it a number of times, just like the other reviewer. The phone's latest adventure was that I lost it in the blizzard in Washington, DC a couple of weeks ago.It fell out of my pocket and got buried in 6 inches of snow, but I didn't notice for an hour or so.By then I was on the other side of the city.I called the people who lived at the place I thought I dropped it, and asked if they could try calling it to find it in the snow. They couldn't hear it.After more than a week, the snow melted enough that they found the phone.I had flown back across the country and even ordered a replacement phone.Their son told me yesterday he had it and brought it to me.It not only fired up right away, but after a little wiggling around it is now even charging back up and seems to work just fine. ... I bought a T68i only for trips to Europe. It not only worked perfectly but I wanted to throw away my old cell back home. It's most notable aspect (after using a new SDA) is the intellegent and intuitive interface.Everything works as you would expect! No 'why the heck did it do THAT' experiences.Maybe it's the way the keys light up or the great screen or tones...

4-0 out of 5 stars The Small Phone Choice for Nextel Customers
I'm surprised by all the bad reviews and that is why I am bothering to write one.I have had this phone for 2 years and purchased the same phone for my mother and sister.Since we are on the Nextel plan for business we were somewhat limited and picked this one because of it's size.I will admit it is terrible for text messaging compared to some of the other phones out there. And it's not built to browse the web etc.But we just wanted a phone not a sidekick or a blackberry.I have had no problems with battery life or pieces falling out or overheating.I'm sure the other reviewers aren't lying, and as Nextel stopped making this phone maybe the model was prone to certain problems but as for the three phones I purchased, none of them had problems with parts, reception or anything else.If you want a small phone for Nextel, I think it's the best way to go.

2-0 out of 5 stars Phone has lots of problems
Have had this phone for a year, the screen to the earpiece fell out. This happened to a co-worker too but Nextel would not fix it without a hefty price. The battery won't keep a charge after a year either. The size and design is good but the problems need to be fixed.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE, PLEASE BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS
I don't honestly care if this review is helpful or not, but I must stress out the fact that the bad reviews for this phone are definitely true. Bad battery life, bad reception (or NO reception), awful design, small but not exactly to its advantage (too small of buttons - no I don't have fat hands) So yeah, don't get this phone. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Cingular is deceptive!
My review is on Cingular.I bought a phone w/service and was told I could return for full refund and only charged for any air time used.THEY LIE.THE PHONE DID NOT WORK IN MY AREA AND I CANCELLED THE NEXT DAY.THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR ACTIVATION even though it never worked in my area.If you are uncertain you will keep the phone and service, DON'T BUY from Cingular.Amazon will also do nothing to reimburse.
1-0 out of 5 stars Warning - 62650 is discriminated by Amazon!
Unfortunately for the people of Jacksonville, IL 62650 can not order Blackberry 7280 Cingular from Amazon. When I check with availability zip code.It says "Sorry! This product is not available for Jacksonville, IL".However, Blackberry 7280 Cingular is working excellent in Jacksonville, IL 62650. Amazon's discrimination toward people of zip code 62650.Anyway, I sought other business to ordered Blackberry 7280 and I loves it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cingular Presents False Advertising
I tried to order the 7280 Blackberry(Cingular) 3 times. Twice for myself and once for my wife(I know she has good credit). Each time I was told the order was cancelled for additional credit information. Upon contacting Cingular I was told that a $49 deposit was required and Amazon could not collect the deposit; therefore the order couldn't be completed. From what I can figure out, Cingular has no intention of honoring this offer. So, give it a shot; but as for me(a ex-longtime Cingular customer) I'd look for other options. My new order for the 7280 Blackberry thru another carrier will arrive this week. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars maybe 3.75
ive had this phone for 2 years. yes, that is way too long. it's a good phone. it has great memory but many phones have upgraded. back then, when the phone first came out, i think it may have been one of the first with bluetooth capacity. the pros: while using an Apple laptop and transferring photos by bluetooth from my phone to the laptop, the picture quality was pretty good. Good talk time, standby time. No zoom for the camera but you can zoom in after you take the picutre. a lot of functions... CONS: size, it's bulky and big. it was too big for many of my smaller purses. there is something up with the application. my first phone went out because of some application error problem a little over a year. when this phone breaks, it simply does NOT turn on. you can charge it all you want, but all you will get is the Nokia intro pics and what not and then boom, it's off and WON'T turn back on. So actually, I've had my phone for 2 years, but actually it was my mom's phone for 2 years. my same phone, BROKE. I think it may have something to do with ALL the pictures I took. another PRO, you can store a LOT of pictures. hope this helps.

4-0 out of 5 stars great phone
ive had this phone for almost a year..it is a superb phone.it has the greatest reception for any phone ive ever had.my other cell phones would never have any bars inside my house, but with this phone i have at least 3 all the time.the charging only takes about an hour or 2 at the most.the pictures kind of suck, and the videos you take are real blurry, but other than that its great.but im getting rid of it because im the type of person that needs a different phone every year, i cant have the same phone for longer than a year, i just dont know, i want another one, planning to get the razr black...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great phone, small buttons
I bought this phone a year ago and have had no problems whatsoever. I did replace the stock faceplate with an aftermarket faceplate and leaned against something and cracked that faceplate. The realplayer is useless without a stereo headphone jack. The screen is large, but the buttons are very small for fat digits. Bluetooth is great and Nokia quality is unsrpassed. Four stars for small buttons and no stereo headphone jack. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Who dropped the ball at samsung?!?
This phone is quite possibly the worst item to ever hit the hot little hands of consumers in the history of the entire universe. It might as well have a button that retracts razor blades to cut the users hands off.... that would even be a welcomed feature IF IT WORKED! This phone can't hold a call for longer than 1 minute on a good day in ideal conditions. If its raining or a small insect flies within the path of the antenna and the receiving tower, you better have that person's number on speed dial because you will be calling them back!I have never had a phone, correction, i have never had ANYTHING i have hated more than this piece!I had a samsung a400 before this one and it worked great! In fact i dropped it in my pool TWICE and it still recovered!I thought another samsung phone would be equally great but it seems that someone overlooked the whole phone part of the design and focused more attention on making it roughly the size of Zack Morris' phone on Saved By The Bell! The battery should have been equipped with a hand crank in order to "Charge On The Go" and maybe even an optional foam outer casing because of the thousands of times you will want to throw the SOB against a wall!Do yourself a favor and destroy any Samsung N400 phone you ever see. With your help, we could rid the world of this horrible device.... it hasnt been proven, but i would not be suprised if the ozone layer corrected itself after these phones are all destroyed!Israel would become a peaceful nation and Pennsylvania would probably fix their roads!Peace Out!

1-0 out of 5 stars This phone is crap
Everything that the reviewer below (Sarahnoid) said is accurate.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish it were possible to give 0 stars.
This phone was sent to me as a replacement when my fabulous Sanyo lost an argument with gravity. It is, quite possibly, the most worthless piece of crap I've ever owned. It's so horrible that I've called Sprint on several occasions trying to get a replacement for this phone, as it doesn't work very well, if at all.I'm always told that since it was issued to me through the insurance policy I took out on my plan, I have to go through the insurance company. The insurance company then tells me that if I get another phone via the insurance, they will cancel my insurance, as two phones in a year is some sort of red flag--nevermind that the one they sent me is worthless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable and Relaible
This phone is ideal for anyone looking for a phone that is both durable and reliable. This phone has never failed me , I work outside for the DOT this phone withstands all that mother nature has to offer. I highly recommend this phone to those who want their purchase to outlast the money they spent, this is the ultimate in what a phone should be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone
Boasting over 4 hours of available talk time battery life, the i58sr is a favorite.Available in Yellow/Black or Black/Grey two tones, this phone comes equipped with Speakerphone, One Touch Direct, and is GPS enabled. But had ordered it off of Nextels site. They even gave me a code that saved me $50.00.Here it is for you all to share (CL897L) case sensitive. On the shopping cart page.It is like an invoice thing. But I think it is a very good choice. You will enjoy the phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone for Geeky Guys with a shallow pocket. The only bad thing is the size
I bought the phone right after I got my annual bonus in the beginning of 2006. $160, a refurbished phone, sounds really expensive. However, the rich functions really told me that it is a super bargain. The $10 per month unlimited internet / email from Sprintpcs is just perfect. The avantgo also make my long journeys between NYC and DC a very enjoyable reading time. I bought a 512MB memory card for the phone and it stores various applications and data: mp3 songs, microsoft digi maps, Gameboy simulators...
3-0 out of 5 stars Shocking to find...
I almost gave up my Black Razr for this phone, but i decided to keep the phone on board with me for text communications. I do enjoy it for its processor and internet ability's, but it is bulky, the camera cant zoom, or at least i have not found out how to zoom, and i have not found any of the memory cards for the expansion slot. Other than it is an okay phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dont buy!
If you want to download ringtones or send text messages, then this phone is not for you.If you need assessories or want to transfer your old contact information into the new G1000 phone, you want be able to do that either. However, if you are a business person and dont care about those features, excellent phone/pda. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Nokia # 1, as usual
Words won't describe how great, reliable, hardworking the 6610 is, and as usuall it have Nokia's reputation and quality. I'm a Mobile Phone abuser - in rain, in sand even on beach, my 6610 was all happy to serve me, sometimes I had to give it a break, but it just turn around and ask me for some more, and here she is after 3 years of service all over the world, from London to Frankfurt she even visted the pyramids in Cairo and made it back to the US and it is still my best friend, can't go anywhere without her.

4-0 out of 5 stars indeed the best price you cannot compare with others

5-0 out of 5 stars A champ!
This phone has been great. I have carried it with me everywhere I go for the last 2 1/2 years, and it has held up wonderfully. I have never had any mechanical problems, and aside from some minor cosmetic scratches from normal wear and tear this phone still looks and works just as great as it did when I bought it. I believe this was the first camera phone on the market to have both a flash and a zoom lens, and even today it takes better pictures than a lot of the new ones they are coming out with. The Internet capability was also very groundbreaking for me, and it was so convenient to be able to do things like check movie times at local theaters with the push of a fwe buttons. I'm getting to the point where I am about to upgrade, but really only for the purpose of getting a phone with camcorder and LiveMedia capability. I have had a couple of problems with the Sprint service over the years, which I think is somewhat unavoidable in this day and age, but they have always been willing to work with me and do what they could to resolve the issue. Bottom line, this phone has served me well and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good reliable camera phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just looking for an upgrade
When i first bought this phone 2 years ago, i fell in love! It has a camera w/ a flash, and took better pictures than most of the other phones out there at the time.
2-0 out of 5 stars Bad hinge
The flip phone hinges froze up and then one side at a time broke the plastic case and came apart until it broke the display cable. Takes the special y driver to replace the case and I can't find a Cell Phone store to replace the case.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good basic reliable phone
I've had this phone for 2.5 years now, and it's been great. Always reliable but very basic when it comes to features (except for the AOL IM). The only bad thing about it is that the faceplates can be hard to remove. Other than that, it's a good basic reliable phone for people who just want something simple.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST
I remember when this phne first came out with VoiceStream Wireless. Jamie Lee Curtis, family plans, the girl at the party wth the phone on her hip and her dad constantly watching her thru mobile-to-mobile calling. Everyone I knew had this phone. With AOL IM. I also had the 3360 from AT&T... both, since they are very similar are, in my opinion, the best phones EVER. Despite their absence of color, cameras, etc... They had excellent talk quality, excellent battery life, and could be kicked around and beat up, and still work... My 3390 and 3360 had a standby time of 5-7 days, I dropped my 3360 several times, left it in the rain, and my 3390, I left it in my pants pocket in the washer and it still worked 100%. I liked the 3595 with T-mobile b/c it was kind of like an update to the 3360/3390, but I didn't like t-mobiles service. In my opinion, If I could, I'd definitely go back and use this phone. And sometimes, I stilll do. I now have a motorola RAZR V3, but I had my 3390 unlocked so I could use it on cingular....

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Reliable
This si a very reliable phone and it has never failed me. The ony problem is that it is a bit old now and out of date. The only problem i did realize is that the buttons are a bit small, but that may be just because i have big fingers. ... Read more
