4-0 out of 5 stars OH JEEZ, THIS GAME ...
This game ... . Compared to any games in the SSX series this game ... . I bought it with my PS2. The control is horrible. And you can't even do many tricks. It is super hard. it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to land any tricks. Sure the graphics are good, BUT THE GRAPHICS DON'T IMPROVE THE GAMEPLAY. Theres like 10 people. I HATE IT. IM SO GLAD I BOUGHT SSX WITH IT.

5-0 out of 5 stars This rocks!
This game is the best because its not like those dumb fake games. It has tight courses and sick tricks. I am a snowboarder and every time before I go boardin I play this to get me goin. U dudes got to get this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Vs. SSX tricky
SSX tricky is much better. it may not be realistic but it is alot more fun. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best realistic snowboarding game on the market
Anyone who has ever snowboarded will be dumbstruck of how real this game is.It is not like ssx, still a real fun game, where you do loops on platic ramps or snowboard in hawaii around volcanos. This is so far the only game that allows you to create a snowboarder. At first it can be really hard and frustrating but it is still really cool.Has all the reall pros and snowboard brands. For the price it is the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best PS2 snowboarding game!!!!
This is truly the best PS2 snowboarding game! It is way more realistic than SSX Tricky. You can't pull off mega flips like SSX, but that is a good thing. The graphics are good, and it is fast with no slowdown. The music is good too. Including such bands as Powerman 5000, Static-X, The Vandals, and AFI. My only complaint about this game is that grinding is so easy, thanks to Konami trying to appeal to the SSX fans. Forget SSX, BUY THIS GAME!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars ESPN x-games snowboarding: 2nd attempt.
here's an initial warning: this game isn't going to be everyone's thing. no game is, right? however, i loved this game. espn winter x-games snowboarding 2002 (quite a title, eh???) consists of, for starters, x-games mode in which you play thru the x-games as any one of 13 pro snowboarders. there are 4 x-games events to play (per character) and 2 freeride tracks to mess around on.

also included is the amazing snowboarder mode. in this section, you custom create a snowboarder, name him/her, and build a pro snowboarding career up from scratch. i mean from NOTHING. in the beginning, all your skills (yep, stat points!!!) .... it can be a little frustrating the first few contests or free runs as you try to snowboard, but this is just like real life; it takes a while to get the hang of it. each run increases your stats a little. in no time, you'll go from 180's to 720's to, yes, 2880's. that's 8 full spins. you can earn huge amounts of secret gear and buy ten times more. you get fame as well as film deals, sponsorships, passports, nicknames, and eventually an invitation to the x-games.

other features include multiplayer (sorry, i haven't played this yet), dozens of short snowboard videos, and a tutorial (very helpful to learn how to spin extra times, etc). snowboarder mode has improved GREATLY since the first game (with the cheesy orange cartoon ski lodge), as has the soundtrack (vandals, powerman 5000, etc). not the best game i've ever played, but certainly realistic, fun, extensive, and the sound (music/sound effects) and graphics are outstanding. ... Editorial Review

Evolution Skateboarding has features that are brand-new in the extreme sports game genre. Players skate across eight sprawling fantasy levels that are 200 percent larger than the levels seen in Konami’s previous skateboarding titles, and gameplay is enriched by intense boss battles that must be completed to progress through the game. Players will come face-to-face with a giant spider and a runaway truck as they grind their way to the next level. Topping off the game’s rich feature set are in-game tools that allow players to design their own stunts and skaters. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun for a Little While
Evolution Skateboarding does not feel bad about copying the Tony Hawk series, although since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater did redefine the extreme sports genre of videogaming, no game has felt very original since.Still, level objectives are similar: collect 'x' amount of these, destroy 'x' amount of those, etc, and the trick system is set up the same way.So, if you're going to imitate something, imitate the best.
Unfortunately, Evolution's trick system fails miserably. It doesn't feel nearly as natural as Tomy Hawk's, probably because of the poor response time, and the clunky execution of tricks. And despite the fact that you can manual to link tricks, you'll be fighting with the controls too often to link any large combos.
There are a few unique features though, like three or four boss fights, interesting for a skateboarding game and not horribly executed either.
However, the soundtrack is not bad at all, (despite the fact that an announcer yells out every trick you do - that can be turned off in the options menu, though, I believe). It's what you would expect from a skateboarding soundtrack, with many generic songs I wouldn't care to hear again, but with a few highlights, namely "Role Model", and a punk-rock cover of the "Metal Gear Main Theme", (Evolution was published by Konami, who developed and publsihed the Metal Gear series.)That song alone made this game worth it for me.
But the Metal Gear references do not end there. One level has you skating on the Struts from Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty, including Strut E (the heliport), and the objectives on this level are Metal Gear related.Collect 'x' number of dogtags, destroy 'x' number of floating sentries, plant 'x' number of C4 explosives and blow up the level.Very cool.Little details on this level are appreciated too, like the sound effect made when you are spotted by a sentry (the sound effect made when you are spotted in the Metal Gear series), and a few stray seagulls sitting on the rails of the walkways.Plus, there are a couple unlockable characters that will be familiar for Metal Gear vets, (neiher a surprise, but still welcome.)
I got this game for under ten dollars, and despite the bad controls, as an enormous Metal Gear fan, the Metal Gear references alone made this purchase worthwhile for me.If you aren't crazy about Metal Gear, then perhaps you ought to steer clear of this game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Its combat on snowboards, fun? you decide
Me, I liked espn winter xgames 2 because of its HUGE career mode, seriously i was drowning in the game's depth. This game focuses more on an unrealistic arcade style battle game, like it? buy the game, like pure snowboarding? THEN HELP ME GET KONAMI TO MAKE ANOTHER WINTER XGAMES SNOWBOARDING! Im serious, email me. anyhow, the game is bad to me because of the lack of snowboarding depth and realism. but if you like bashin monsters over the head with the same guy whos got a gold medal at the xgames, then this is for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Is it better than SSX or SSX Tricky? No.
SSX and SSX TRICKY or both better games. First of all, there is not too much actual snowboarding here. It focuses on incredibly lame combat, with weapons such as chains and baseball bats. The trick system is set up just like it is in Tony Hawk or Shaun Palmer, but that systme does not work well. It is unresponsive, and useless. Mission objectives in the levels are terrible as well, not to mention extremely frustrating. a little bit of fun can be had in the "Quick Race" mode, but it wears off quickly. Even if you already beat SSX TRICKY, do not buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Super Smash Bros. Rip-Off ever!
Yes, I think I need to say that this is an SSBM ripoff, but that's OK! Because SSBM is such a good game, adding swords and different characters is COOL! So go ahead and buy it... even if it IS an SSBM rip off!

4-0 out of 5 stars What happens when you mix Super Smash Bros. and Onimusha?
Being new to the Onimusha world, I was able to review this game without bias. What I found was an interesting and rather in-depth quasi-3D fighter. In this spin-off of the popular series, you select your favorite hero or villain and battle your way thru familiar environments and characters as you strengthen your abilities. For those who are familiar with Super Smash Bros melee, just imagine that Mario became a samurai and the koopas turned into demons. In other words, you can jump in-between the foreground and the background in what is usually 3-4 different tiers; as you pick up various power-ups to aid you in pummeling your foes. What separates this title however, is the rather complex fighting system which includes: charged attacks, guard breakers, critical hit (a timing based attack off your opponent's attack), critical counter, energy push-away, and ready stance are amongsome of the moves other than the more basic features. This game also maintains a bit of the build-and-acquire element you might find in a RPG, allowing you to upgrade your characters abilities and find new trinkets to help you along.
Fans and newcomers to the Onimusha world will all be able to get a kick out of hacking & slashing thru the game by themselves or being pitted against three of their buddies.

-The good-
Fun factor.
Solid gameplay.
4 player.
Can load built-up characters into versus mode.

-The bad-
Some may wonder why Capcom didn't go all the way and make a true 3D fighter.

Verdict = Good party game. Fans may need it for their library. Definitely worth renting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This is the best Omnusha game in the series. You can be a bunch of characters from previous games. You can pick up special weapens such as clubs and guns.In multiplayer there are tons of games you can do.And this games graphics rule.If you have a Nitendo 64 you might remember the game Turok:Rage Wars. This game is sorta like it.You can go up to 4 players, you have tons of pick ups and levels, and few characters you start with.Basicly the same thing but I love them.Omnusha rules! ...
